Spoke recently completed an audio installation
project for the Auckland Regional Council at Scandrett Regional
Park on Mahurangi Peninsula in Northland.
The audio covered stories from George and
and Joan Scandrett who farmed the area before selling it to
the ARC in 1998 to manage as a regional park.
Their stories tell of the life that surrounded
the cowshed on the edge of the shoreline, particularly when
it was a popular holiday destination in the 1950s and 60s.
The audio intersperses excerpts from 1ZB commercials and announcers
from that era.
The audio plays from an old radio in the corner
of the cowshed, which is now a feature for visitors to Scandrett
Regional Park.
